Young people in Grade 2 (or older), with their family's support, are invited to celebrate their First Reconciliation (Confession) and their First Communion this year.
Celebrating a Sacrament for the first time is an important step in the life of your child as a Catholic Christian. This year, your child will continue their faith journey in a very special way. It is a time of growth and understanding of how much mercy and love Jesus has for us.
This year is a little different (you know, a pandemic), but we are here to support you and your family. We will let you know dates for First Reconciliations at West Middlesex Catholic Family of Parishes by email once restrictions lift. First Communions will follow in the spring of 2022.
For your children's First Reconciliation, we will be asking that you and your child spend some time together preparing in the coming weeks using our online preparation website. You will work together through a guided program, at your own pace, and we will provide the supplies you need to make it fun.
We will get to that after you register, but we want you to know that the preparation information that follows your registration is important so you and your child can prepare for this amazing Sacrament... and make it an exciting time for them and you!
This winter will focus on the Sacrament of Reconciliation and we will connect with you in early 2022 about next steps for your child's First Communion.
If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to email our Pastoral Minister,
Julie de Gouw at [email protected].
Curbside Pickup!
We have made a supply kit for you and your child for both the First Reconciliation and First Communion Programs. Once you register and pay, please email Julie at [email protected]
to make arrangements for curbside pickup of your kit!
Before we get to the preparation part of the journey, we need to register & pay.
Register & Select a Date
First, make sure you know two things (or ask your partner if they know!).
(1) Do you know when and where your child was baptized? If it wasn't at All Saints, Sacred Heart Delaware, Sacred Heart Parkhill or St Charles Garnier Glencoe, do you have a copy of their Baptismal Certificate? If you can't find it, that's OK, you can let us know on the form.
(2) At their baptism, you received a baptismal candle... can you find it? It's OK if it's a bin in the basement (no judgment!). If you don't have it, no worries...we have included a blessed votive candle for you in your kit..
