Meet Marg VanderBurgt, one of the other lovely voices you are greeted with when you call the West Middlesex Catholic Family of Parishes, office!
Marg is one of the most organized and efficient people you will ever meet. Nothing seems to faze Marg! Always calm, cool, and collected! Imagine that, an Italian girl to boot married to a Dutchman! Marg also possesses a great sense of humour and loves to laugh! If you have a concern, Marg is ready and willing to listen and offer solutions.
After going to high school in Strathroy, then attending Western University for her post-secondary education in Sociology/Economics, Marg followed up with a Management Certificate a few years later. Marg married her high school sweetheart, Rick, who is a Stationary Engineer with an automotive manufacturer. 2022 will mark their 33rd wedding anniversary. Marg likes to say, Rick drives her crazy every day, but she wouldn’t have it any other way! They have two sons, one who just graduated with his Masters from Utrecht University in the Netherlands and hoping to go to law school this year, and one who is currently working on his Master's program at Western University. Having lived in Komoka for 33 years, they have been parishioners of Sacred Heart Delaware since 1977 (earlier for Rick who was born in the area).
Marg’s entire work history had been in the corporate world until she began working for the Diocese in August 2016, for the parishes of Sacred Heart Delaware and St. Charles Garnier Glencoe. Marg had been looking for a new opportunity that was more community based, where she could feel her efforts would make a real difference. This position came to her attention through a parishioner who thought she would love it – and she sure does. The thing Marg loves most about what she does is the relationships built with parishioners and the closeness of our community.
Whenever Marg has free time, you can find her reading, playing games and being with family. Marg and her family love to travel and have visited over 14 countries so far, with more on their “dream” list. Marg claims she has no “green thumb” as anyone who knows her can attest to, but loves all kinds of flowers anyway.
Marg says she is definitely blessed to have such a great team/family to work with each and every day here at the West Middlesex Catholic Family of Parishes. If you haven’t already met Marg, be sure to stop by the office and say hello! Marg is always eager to make you feel right at home!
