Office Administrator for the West Middlesex Catholic Family of Parishes
Olga Ferreira is one of the happiest people you will ever meet! A song is never far from her lips as Olga is well known in the office for breaking into song on a moment's notice. Olga has a song ready for every conversation that happens to have the lyrics of a song in it! It is not unusual to find the rest of the staff jumping into song with her!
Well organized and efficient, Olga is dedicated to her role as “Office Administrator” for the West Middlesex Catholic Family of Parishes. Back in 1979, Olga began working for All Saints Parish and has seen her fair share of pastors and associates come and go. A native of Strathroy, Olga was born to Portuguese parents, Arthur and Maria dos Anjos Correia, and has one sister, Ruth.
Arthur Correia, Olga’s dad, was the custodian at Our Lady Immaculate school, and her mom, Maria, was the housekeeper at the rectory. No chance for Olga to get into trouble with her parents’ ever watchful eyes on her! In fact, growing up, Olga and family lived just two doors down from the church. The church became the family’s second home. For many years, Olga was the choir director for one of the parish choirs.
In 1982, Olga married her high school sweetheart, John Ferreira, and the two will celebrate 39 years of marriage this coming September. Olga and John have one son, Nathan who is 32 years old. Olga will tell you: Nathan is a gift from God.
Did you know Olga has a nickname? Yes, it is “Ogi”. Many times, while in the office, you can hear Father Thom calling “Ogi” to which Olga always goes running to see what is up. Not very often does Olga get upset or riled up about something. Calm, cool and collected would be a great way to describe Olga. Fluent in Portuguese, she will switch in and out of English and Portuguese, picking and choosing words in either language as the need arises. Olga has helped Father Thom to learn some Portuguese so Mass can be celebrated in the Portuguese language.
Although Olga’s official job description is Office Administrator, her talents go above and beyond office work. Yes, she runs an efficient office and keeps the staff on their toes! Olga has a love for ministering to others and her faith in God enables her to do so every day.
