  • Part 1:  The Good Samaritan

    •

WATCH THE JESUS STORIES: THE GOOD SAMARITAN

Login to your Formed account, and search for "jesus stories the good samaritan" to watch The Good Samaritan.

This is a shorter video (10 minutes) so after you've watched, see if your kids can answer the True & False questions. If you can relate to the mom in the video, add your own questions! :-)

    •

      TRUE OR FALSE?

We know how much God loves us and that He shows his love through Jesus. We know we can show God how much we love him. Now we are going to talk about how we can love one another.

True or False? These are some ways that you can love as Jesus loves...

      1. Listening to your parents (T or F)
      2. Refusing to play with someone at recess for no reason (T or F)
      3. Make a get well card to people who are sick or alone (T or F)
      4. Ignoring my dad when he asks me to get my shoes on (T or F)
      5. Donate food or clothes to help people who are without (T or F)
      6. When someone hurts your feelings, say “I forgive you” (T or F)
      7. Hide the remote so nobody finds it so you can be in charge of what's on TV (T or F)
      8. Telling others how much you love them (T or F)
      9. Pray for others (T or F)
      10. Parents... are you on a roll? Make up your own!
    •

WE CAN BE A GOOD SAMARITAN EVERY DAY

Think about what it means to be a Good Samaritan for others. Jesus asks us to help, share and forgive others.

Have your child keep track (with your help) of what daily act of love or service they did for the next 7 days.

Either at the end of the day, or when you identify a good action, have them write down what they did that day in the square for that day on the calendar provided.

At the end of the week, see how many Acts of Love they have done. Maybe other family members would like to join in as well! :-)

  • Part 2:  Jesus Forgives a Sinner

    • Discuss Together...

      1. In what way did Jesus show his love to Zacchaeus?
      2. Why were the other people not happy that Jesus was going to Zacchaeus’ home?
      3. How do you forgive?
      4. In the Lord’s Prayer, Jesus tells us how to forgive. Read together the Lord’s Prayer and talk about how it tells us to forgive. (Forgot the prayer? It's at the bottom of this webpage!)
  • Part 3:  Seeds of Faith

    • In your supply kit you picked up from the church, you should have:

      • Flower pot
      • Flower seeds
      • A small bag of dirt
      • A folded paper with the Seeds of Faith instructions

Check each day to see if your seeds grow. Don't forget to water your seeds! Think back to the Good Samaritan video and some of the activities you might do during the week. What seeds are you planting each day to that will help others grow closer to God?

  • Prayers to try & to learn

    • Lord's
      Prayer

Our Father, who are in heaven, hallowed be thy name
Thy kingdom come, thy will be done, on earth as it is in heaven
Give us this day our daily bread, and forgive us our trespasses,
As we forgive those who trespass against us.
And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil.
      Amen.

    • Hail
      Mary

      Hail Mary, full of grace
      The Lord is with thee.
      Blessed are you
      among women,
      And blessed is the fruit
      of your womb, Jesus.
      Holy Mary, Mother of God
Pray for us sinners now and at the hour of our death.
      Amen.

    • Prayer of
      Praise

      Glory to the Father
      and to the Son,
      and to the Holy Spirit;
As it was in the beginning,
is now and will be forever.
      Amen.

    • Act of
      Contrition

      Jesus Christ,
      Son of the living God,
Have mercy on me, a sinner.
      OR
      Dear God,
I am sorry for doing wrong. Please forgive me all my sins. I know you love me very much. Help me to love you in return and care for others as you do.
      Amen.
