What is the Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults?
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is the name given to the process by which those seeking to join the Catholic Church, go through as they
seek to know more about themselves and their relationship with God.
The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is a spiritual journey of formation, prayer and discernment by both the individual and the Parish community.
It is designed for adults and children of catechetical age (in their seventh year) who consciously and freely seek God and want to enter into the life of faith
as disciples of Jesus. This journey of faith leads to the sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation and Eucharist at the Easter Vigil.
RCIA is also appropriate for those who are baptized in another Christian denomination and wish to become Catholic and for Catholics who were baptized as infants but
did not complete their initiation as a young person.
